The Createarium in Smithville: Get Messy, Be Silly, and Have Fun

Located on the square in downtown Smithville, Createarium has something for artists of every age. This art studio proclaims itself “A joyous space for artists of every age to get messy, be silly and have fun creating.”
They host a variety of classes, camps, workshops, and drop-in sessions available for all age groups and experience levels, as well as parties and other private events.
Children’s art classes are 1 hour long and are booked in eight-week sessions. Toddler and Me and Preschool classes are 45 minutes long and scheduled in four-week sessions. Classes are offered in painting, drawing, sculpture making, mixed media art, and more.
Workshops, on the other hand, are a single session, with a craft or project that can be completed at that time. They cover everything from candle making to instructor-led paintings. Workshops are great for a variety of occasions, from date night to ladies’ night, and there are projects suitable for all ages. Some date night projects are even specifically designed with couples in mind.
Special sessions can be hosted for homeschool students and Girl Scouts working toward art badges. Createarium has a large, custom-built spin art machine as well as a Jackson Pollock-inspired splatter paint room. Participants in this special enclosed room can fling paint, squirt it from water guns and squirt bottles, play with paint-filled balloons, and more while decorating a shared canvas. The cost of this workshop varies depending on the size of the canvas selected, the length of time, and the number of participants.
